Financial AnalystMilwaukee , WI Job DescriptionMilwaukee School of
Engineering (MSOE) invites applications for a full-time Financial
Analyst to join our Finance team. Under direction of the Associate
VP of Finance, the Financial Analyst at the Milwaukee School of
Engineering will perform and assist with budgeting, forecasting,
financial analysis, and financial reporting. The Financial Analyst
will also perform various accounting functions and assist in the
financial close process. The Financial Analyst will contribute and
provide financial support to leadership, chairs, and
management.
Essential Job Functions
Budget and Forecasts
- Facilitate coordination of the budget and forecast
processes.
- Develop and prepare templates and other materials used to
prepare the budget and forecasts.
- Provide support and analysis to leadership, chairs, and others
in preparing budgets, monitoring budget adjustments, and preparing
forecasts.
- Contribute to the development of the organization's
consolidated budget and forecasts.
- Facilitate summarizing and reporting the organization's budget
and forecasts.
Financial Analysis
- Prepare budget and forecast variance analyses for various
levels of management.
- Assist and provide key financial analyses to enable both
day-to-day and strategic decisions.
- Identify, interpret, and communicate financial trends.
- Provide analysis and recommendations to help optimize the
effectiveness and efficiency of processes/expenditures.
Financial Reporting and Dashboarding
- Support the development and maintenance of key performance
metrics.
- Create and maintain reporting tools and templates to facilitate
the production of regular financial reports/analysis.
- Develop, prepare, and communicate periodic and special
financial reports and dashboards that enable the organization to
make better financial decisions.
Business Support
- Provide financial support for the preparation of models and
business cases to evaluate new initiatives and significant capital
expenditures.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to assist in quantifying
risks/opportunities and to create financial analytics.
- Collaborate with management across the organization to create
understanding of financial results, drivers, and issues.
Accounting
- Participate in month-end and year-end financial close
process.
- Prepare and enter adjustments and journal entries on a monthly
or as needed basis.
- Analyze and prepare general ledger account reconciliations and
journal entries.
- Contribute to the development of procedures to make the close
and reporting processes more efficient and accurate.
- Ensure that all transactions are made in accordance with
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, as well as Federal,
State, and University guidelines.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide education on financial concepts and processes.
- Perform other financial projects as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
- 2+ years of professional accounting experience preferred.
- Strong accounting and financial analysis skills, as well as
excellent communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint; experience
using Excel as an advanced modeling tool.
- Proficient in the use of an ERP accounting system with the
ability to adapt computer skills to new systems.

and detail-oriented environment.
- Adept at troubleshooting, problem solving, and responding to
stakeholder requests.
- Ability to deal sensitively with confidential data and use
sound judgment.

operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to
speak effectively before others. Ability to effectively communicate
in both written and oral form.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to use numbers to solve problems involving concrete
variables in standardized situations.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out written
or oral instructions.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
largely sedentary, but the ability to move is required. The
employee is occasionally required to traverse within their work
area as well as other areas on campus.
Work Environment
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This
role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones,
photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
