The Public Relations Specialist is responsible for providing internal business partners with strategic Public Relations support and subsequent tactical implementation. This includes reporting and measurement of PR activities and necessary strategic and tactical adjustments in support of corporate and business unit goals.

PR Planning and Media Relations
In partnership with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts develop and execute strategic PR plans that support Generac and business unit goals.
Effectively identify target audience(s) and determine the best way to reach them.
Develop and implement PR plans using internal and external resources, within agreed-upon timeframes and budget.
Develop and maintain relationships with key editors and reporters (local, national and trade).
Identify and leverage timely and relevant industry trends in pursuit of media coverage.
Respond to requests for information from the media.
Content Creation and Deployment
Create press releases, fact sheets, case studies, contributed articles, video scripts and other pieces of information for various media outlets and Generac's owned communications channels.
Work with Generac's social media team to extend the reach of media placements and further support the lines of business.
Tracking and Measurement
Track and measure earned media placements to demonstrate the effectiveness of PR strategies and tactics. Recommend adjustments to planned efforts, as necessary.
Professional Development
Seek out and gain expertise regarding new and emerging PR tools, strategies and tactics.

Minimal Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations or a related field or equivalent experience
Minimum 3 years' experience in public relations, communications or journalism

Preferred Qualifications:
Proven writing skills, with experience developing, writing and coordinating external communications;
Demonstrated ability to generate positive media coverage and manage media inquiries;
Journalism background and/or agency experience;
Understanding of major social media channels, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter.

Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
