For this role, we would like candidates to be in or around the Milwaukee area so we can have you join us in the office sometimes.About the role: - -Reporting to the Senior Shopping Editor, the Associate Shopping Editor uses a mix of content creation and editorial skills to help drive the success of product-focused pet content across our brand portfolio, focusing on the expansion of our newest brand, The Pet Collective. Using traffic and revenue data as a guide, this editor will pitch, write, and edit shopping-optimized pet content for multiple distribution channels, including search, newsletters, social and partners. If you are eager to be part of a growing team, are flexible, creative and driven, love to get your hands on products to test and evaluate, and are willing to try new things, you have the qualities we are looking for in this exciting new role.About you:You are a flexible writer and editor with the organizational skills and attention to detail needed to produce quality, on-brand shopping content that will succeed across various channels. You are curious about The Pet Collective's audience and will use your knowledge to tailor content to their interests, needs and buying habits. You are collaborative in nature and an active contributor to brainstorming, with a fresh perspective on what is new and what is next for the audience. You are interested in what is happening in the world of shopping (especially as it relates to pets) and how to provide that to our audience in valuable, relevant, and entertaining ways. You are a consumer of pet content and online shopper, enabling you to spot opportunities through your own creative endeavors and eye for trends.Your day-to-day:

• Write, refresh, and edit affiliate pet content using search-relevant best practices, including internal and affiliate linking
• Work closely with the Senior Shopping Editor to grow the library of Pet Collective content, contributing to brainstorms and editorial calendar discussions with research on product trends, seasonality and performance
• Research SEO keywords and competitor data as well as shopping trends, sales and seasonality; use findings to build content pitches, outlines and assignments
• Assist the Senior Shopping Editor in planning the pets-focused newsletter, providing content and packaging ideas
• Write or refresh quick turnaround content to highlight trending products and sales
• Occasionally test products across various pet categories including cleaning, training, entertainment and more
• Work on multiple projects simultaneously and ensure all project deadlines and goals are met
• Other duties as assigned by the Senior EditorYou have: -
  • Two to four years of writing and editing experience in digital media; shopping and/or pet writing experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of the digital landscape, particularly SEO strategy and performance metrics
  • Proficiency in WordPress, basic HTML, Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet-style programs such as Airtable; preference for Amazon Associates and Skimlinks experience
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple projects at one time, consistently meeting deadlines and catching all the details
  • A keen familiarity with and interest in the pets and shopping spaces
  • Capability to work independently, but also as part of an evolving, dynamic team; interest in helping to grow a brand from its earliest stages preferred
