What will you do
Johnson Controls, Inc. seeks an Advanced Quality Engineer at its
facility located at 507 E Michigan St, Milwaukee, WI 53202.
How will you do it
- Act as voice of quality at weekly product development team
meetings for the product businesses you support.
- Work with the engineering teams to ensure design failure mode
effects analysis (DFMEA) is completed on each new product, ensuring
that product requirements are addressed and that the critical and
significant characteristics (CC/SCs) are cascaded to the drawings,
specifications and to the process failure mode effects analysis
(PFMEA).
- Participate and sign off on Design Reviews to ensure quality
has been properly addressed in the design. Review all Engineering
Development (ED)/Design Verification (DV)/ Production Validation
(PV) samples to ensure there are no quality related issues.
- When issues arise, work with engineering and/or manufacturing
to resolve prior to release to production. Provide input to the
Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) to ensure that test
quantities are statistically significant based on related warranty
data, production volumes, etc., and review test results to ensure
all tests are passed prior to release to production.
- If tests do not pass, work with teams to ensure that the tests
are repeated until successfully passed. Work with Engineering and
Supplier Quality to ensure all components have Production Part
Approval Process (PPAP) approval prior to release to production and
that all associated documentation meets quality requirements.
- Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure the plant has
Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) approval prior to release
to production and that all associated documentation meets quality
requirements.
- Work with Engineering and/or Manufacturing in approval of
Temporary Change Notices (TCN) and ensure the TCN is closed by the
required end date.
- Work with Engineering, Manufacturing and Supplier Quality to
resolve customer/warranty issues using the 8D process. Conduct
training for program teams on quality tools, as needed.
- Visit the manufacturing plants and customer sites, as needed.
10% international and domestic travel. 100% Telecommuting. What we
look for
- This position requires a bachelor's degree, or foreign
equivalent, in Chemical Engineering or a related field, plus 10
years of experience with advanced product quality planning.
Additionally, the applicant must have professional experience
with:
- Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) ensuring high levels of
quality for parts used to manufacture products;
- Guiding development teams in the use of Design Failure Modes
and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Production Failure Modes and
Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to ensure product requirements have been
accounted for, and critical / significant characteristics (CC/SC)
are identified and documented;
- Using Eight Disciplines (8D) problem solving process to guide
investigation and resolution of discovered quality issues;
- Design verification planning and reporting (DVP&R) ensuring
necessary product testing is carried out and results are
appropriately documented according to established processes;
- Manufacturing processes relevant to HVAC and control products
including creation and use of Control Plans, understanding of
material procurement / handling, production process flow and
production line testing processes and equipment; and
- Understanding and functioning of ISO 9001-2015 quality system
processes relevant to both design / product development and
manufacturing.
