Job Summary
Core member of new product introduction team while support existing
production for thermoplastic injection molds
Job Duties
--- Responsible for the project management of new molds in addition
to reviewing issues with existing molds, offering solutions for
improvement
--- Act as a mentor & SME (Subject Matter Expert) to the toolroom
and other team members on tooling issues. Work with production team
and Engineering debugging molding tooling concerns and issues that
arise.
--- Work closely with current and new tooling vendors to outsource
necessary tooling updates that are needed that are above and beyond
current in-house capabilities
--- Participate in design reviews for DFM - with Project Engineer
and team
--- Enhance the existing matrix of recommended vendors for tooling
based upon technology, capability, performance, delivery, and cost
as how it applies to the business needs.
--- Work with engineering to identify issues with production mold
performance, cost reductions and recommend tooling improvements
--- Maintain tooling spares, keeping CAD documentation (SolidWorks,
AutoCAD) current
--- Complete all necessary documents fully and accurately by
establishing PM frequencies, documenting changes to any and all
tooling
--- Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work
area, etc.)
--- Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and
procedures
--- Perform other duties as assigned
Experience and Education
--- Perform work under general supervision
--- Possess solid working knowledge of subject matter for injection
molds (Including but not limited to thermoplastic, rubber, over
molding, 2 shot, vertical and horizontal presses etc..)
--- May provide leadership, coaching and/or mentoring to a
subordinate group
--- Preferred bachelor's degree with 2 to 4 years of experience
Competencies/ Skills
--- Experience with SOLIDWORKS and AutoCAD
--- Moldflow experience is a plus
--- Journeyman toolmaker and/or designer. Minimum of 10 years
direct tool room experience
--- Intermediate verbal and written communication skills
--- Technical expertise with injection molding tooling
--- Design expertise of injection molds to provide intellectual
advice on new tool builds and revisions to stay ahead of the
curve.
--- Analytical thinking skills
