Job Description:
With general directions, the Product Compliance Engineer III is
responsible for the statutory and regulatory aspects of Laird
Connectivity's wireless product portfolio. This includes ensuring
compliant products during new product development, managing and
maintaining product compliance after launch, ensuring accurate,
up-to-date product documentation, and providing internal and
external guidance and support on compliance related inquires
related to the product line.This is a remote position anywhere in
the US.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitates/coordinates and manages the compliance aspects of
the wireless product portfolio, acting as project interface to test
labs, regulatory bodies, and countries.
- Plays an active role in the development team to ensure the
compliance effort remains on schedule and within budget.
- Obtains and maintains records of testing, safety accreditation,
CB Scheme, country licenses, etc.
- Manages the ongoing regulatory compliance of Laird products
through-out their life cycle by involvement with sustaining
engineering projects.
- Ensures compliant products, product documentation and processes
for new products and existing product portfolio.
- Specifies, reviews, and approves regulatory compliance
requirements, product information and documentation.
- Provides support for compliance-related customer
inquiries.
- Ensures handling of region-specific compliance matters,
registrations, and approvals.
- Drafts and provides declaration/confirmation of
country-specific documents and achieve market approval.
- Monitors applicable regulation and standard changes (FCC, IEC,
ETSI, CISPR, IEEE, ANSI, UL, CSA, etc.), identifies actions and
generates impact assessments and business cases.
- Coordinates and manages compliance related initiatives, such as
product regulatory renewals, between internal and external
resources.
- Organizes and maintains product compliance documentation such
as the Technical Construction File, including test reports,
Certificates of Compliance, User Manuals, Test Setup Instructions,
etc.
- Conducts internal audits and support external audits for
compliance related matters. REQUIREMENTS
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry
standards.
- Hands-on experience on EMC/EMI testing.
- Good understanding of global consumer electronics EMC/EMI
standards such as, FCC, CE, CISPR, RED, etc.
- Able to write technical documents clearly and concisely.
- May require knowledge of local certification processes and
ability to interact with local certification authorities.
- Exposure and working knowledge of wireless technologies such as
WIFI, Zigbee and Bluetooth along with an understanding of
networking systems is highly desirable.
- Understanding of environmental / sustainability requirements
such as Prop 65, RoHS, Reach, Energy efficiency etc. is desirable.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree in engineering or technical field or
equivalent experience.
- Five to eight years of related experience; preferably with
electromechanical components.
