Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of University Housing, the Associate
Director of Residence Life is a twelve (12) month, live-out
professional position. The Associate Director is responsible for
the overall management of the residence life program with the goal
to enhance community members' cultural understanding, leadership
skills, academic success, and social connections while fostering a
community that promotes social responsibility. The Associate
Director directly supervises two Area Coordinators responsible for
Academic & Community Engagement and Residence Life Operations, and
six to nine full-time, live-in professional Residence Life
Coordinators (RLC), and supervisory authority to approximately 20
student positions.
The Associate Director is responsible for directing the daily
activities of a variety of functions essential to the successful
operation of the department's mission as a 24/7/365 operation. With
support from direct reports, the Associate Director provides
training oversight for the Residence Life professional and student
staff. The Associate Director is responsible for disseminating
health & safety policies, procedures, and compliance in
coordination with UWM Police Department, Milwaukee Fire Department,
and University Housing facilities. The Associate Director works in
collaboration to support departmental initiatives with both the
facilities and business operation units and serves on the
University Housing Leadership Team.
