We'll encourage you to explore diverse opportunities to find your focus and thrive in your chosen career.Requirements:What you bring: Your work will include, but not limited to:Assume responsibility for smooth flow of tax returns through the tax preparation system to assure accurate, complete, and timely preparation and delivery of all clients' tax returns.Possess technical knowledge sufficient to supervise and train staff and senior accountants on multiple engagements simultaneously and evaluate their progress.Develop new client contacts and relationships beneficial to the firm while also recognizing opportunities to provide additional services to current clients.Maintain a good working relationship with clients to enhance client satisfaction and work with client management and staff at all levels to perform tax services, resolve tax related problems and make recommendations for business and process improvements.Review and evaluate work papers and determine compliance with professional standards, firm policy, as well as tax compliance.Lead planning meetings with staff and senior accountants to establish budget guidelines and discuss pertinent issues related to client work.Participate in recruiting efforts as needed.Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis.Basic Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or combination of like education, discipline and advanced learning.Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or IRS Enrolled Agent (EA)6+ years' recent experience in a public accounting firmDemonstrated supervisory experience in public accountingStrong oral and written communication skillsFluency in English languageAdditional QualificationsFive or more years' experience in general tax, preferably with at least three years in the real estate fieldKnowledge of common real estate transactions like 1031 exchanges, sales & purchases, and the tax implications of those transactionsStrong understanding of the tax implications of admitting new partners, tax implications of selling a partnership interest, and partners' contributing and distributing property to a partnershipStrong understanding of Opportunity Funds and Opportunity ZonesComprehensive technical skills, including providing full service to real estate owners, developers, and investorsExcellent research skillsStrong understanding of the theory of taxationCommand of pertinent IRC sections and regulationsBenefits and PerksGeffen Mesher offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including health insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, four weeks of paid time off per year, and very generous 401(K)/Profit Sharing contributions.
