HERE .The Senior Manager - Cell Simulation and Modeling will
contribute individually and lead a team to develop models deepening
the understanding of heat generation, prediction of failure modes
and prediction of cycle life under various application conditions.
The team member will collaborate with various Engineering teams to
design, model, simulate, and implement innovative algorithms for
our power and energy battery solutions. You will also be tasked
with growing the team to fit the needs of the team as described
above.You'll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and
responsibilities:
- Build and lead a team of engineers to develop and implement
advanced electrochemical models for Li-ion cells.
- Serve as an expert resource for the organization to lead teams
in industry best practices for modeling, simulation
- Develop and maintain simulation tools for predicting battery
performance, aging, and failure modes.
- Use simulation results to guide design decisions and optimize
battery performance, reliability, and safety.
- Develop and implement test plans to validate model accuracy and
improve model fidelity.
- Mathematical modeling of the electrochemical behavior of
lithium-ion cells using reduced order models such as single
particle model, P2D model as well as 3D detailed Comsol and coupled
multi-physics models.
- Work on modeling capabilities development to enable
simulation-driven design guidance in the early cell architecture
phase
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to integrate models
into battery design and development processes
- Mentor and coach, the technical leads in engineering best
practices including task management, Gantt charts, root cause
analysis.
- Build, manage, and motivate a world class team of cross
functional engineers and project managers in engineering best
practices to deliver new-to-world solutions.
- Conduct literature review to identify topics of interest for
internal research and development.
- Collaborate with universities and external labs to develop new
techniques and explore new research areas to drive future
technologies.
- Identify new innovations and strategic opportunities while
considering financial impact and competitiveness.
- Effectively communicate and motivate up, down, and across the
organization to a diverse range of technical and non-technical team
members.
- Drive urgency in project schedules and accountability for
establishing and achieving key project cost and metrics that meet
the organization's needs.What TOOLS you'll bring with you:
- Minimum of master's degree in Electrochemistry or chemical or
mechanical or material engineering with a focus on engineering
simulation or computation.
- 2 years of professional experience using commercial software to
develop muti-physics models of lithium-ion batteries.
- Strong foundation in statistical design (D.O.E.) with relevant
software experience.
- In-depth knowledge of Li-ion battery cell materials, operation,
performance, and failure modes.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement advanced
electrochemical models in cell aging mechanism identification,
characterization for Li-ion batteries.
- Proficiency in programming and simulation tools such as MATLAB,
Simulink, and COMSOL.
- Strong technical communication skills and facility for
communicating complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- 5+ years of team leadership experience.
- Experience with using Matlab/Simulink model-based design
workflow, code generation and automated testing.
- Self-motivated, organized, efficient, process oriented with a
strong work ethic.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, exercises independent
judgement and works well under pressure in a dynamic
environment.
- Ability to travel up to 10% (domestically and
internationally).Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:
- PhD Degree preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience in physics-based
modeling of thermo-electrochemical and mechanical
performance/safety characterization of lithium cells.
- Expertise in numerical methods of optimization, statistical
analysis and data evaluation, visualization.
- Proven ability to mentor the team as well as drive technical
development roadmap.
- Previous experience in leading a small engineering team is a
