The Madison or Milwaukee office of SmithGroup is looking for a
Business Development Director to join our team.
Working with us, you will:
- Monitor industry trends and collect market intelligence on
clients and competitors. Track competitor activity by monitoring
websites, collateral presentations, trade journals and discussion
lists.
- Support the develop of the studio's strategic plan including
SWOT goals and action plans, market segmentation analysis, top
clients, and revenue projections.
- Facilitate strategic partner collaborations including
pre-positioning sessions and strategic alliances with partners like
contractors, developers, organizations, or other key
consultants.
- Build and implement capture plans for key clients.
- Establish relationships with partners including contractors,
developers, AE firms and consultants.
- Work with management and technical staff to identify project
opportunities, strengthen current business ties and client
relationships, and formulate business development strategies to
expand SmithGroup market sectors.
- Perform debrief surveys though out the pursuit and project
process (CEMS)
- Host BD meetings to review strategy and action with studio and
office leadership
- Update and maintain lead tracking databases with relevant
information on targeted clients, contacts, and opportunities.
- Monitor lead tracking sites
- Develop project pursuit strategies & position SmithGroup for
projects before Requests for Proposals are issued.
- Actively engage in proposal strategy development and write key
proposal sections.
- Serve as interview coach for key pursuits.
- Lead and develop local events including client outreach,
relationship building at events and post-event follow up.
- Build and implement a strategy for conference engagement
- Actively participate in networking for client and industry
events
- Use social media as a tool to increase client and partner
engagement and visibility An ideal candidate has:
- Minimum of 7 years of related experience required, including a
minimum of seven years of experience in the A/E/C industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism,
Public Relations, or related field (preferred).
- Knowledge of AEC/Real Estate market.
- Skilled at developing and delivering presentations.
- Ability to prioritize effectively.
- Team oriented individual.
- Skilled at discretion and confidentiality.
- The ability to think creatively and strategically.
- Exhibits a high level of follow through.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel,
Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of Deltek Vision and Microsoft Teams.
- Ability to provide advice and recommendations in an informed
and confident manner.
- Outstanding organizational skills; persistent, tactful, and
enthusiastic.
- Communicates with co-workers, management, clients, and others
with a responsive, service-oriented mindset; self-starter,
resourceful, detail oriented.
- Ability to effectively collaborate and coordinate within a team
environment - readily shares information with colleagues and
embraces the give and take of responsibilities that regularly
occurs among team members.
