Job Description:
Performs a variety of clerical, distributive, technical and data
gathering duties in home site and other practice settings in the
Aurora Pharmacy. Performs advanced functions requiring specialty
training as needed which may include, tech-check-tech functions,
immunizations, durable medical equipment, and be cross trained to
be independent in remote dispensaries and other specialized areas
as defined. Must perform these additional tasks in advance of or
within 6 months of a the function presenting to your site or
geography.Dispenses and delivers medications accurately and timely.
Demonstrates competence in department automated dispensing and
storage devices. Trouble shoots dispensing issues.Generates and
evaluates reports and troubleshoots complex distribution needs
including inventory management and department workflows.
Identifies, designs and assists in implementing process changes to
improve the department and quality and safety of the patient
experience.Role models exceptional inventory management for
medication and front of store merchandise.Shows expertise in
dispensing and delivery of medications. This includes developing
competence in the department's use of information systems,
technology, and automation use for dispensing, storage of
medications and clerical duties. Performs extensive insurance and
third party billing functions including and assist with training
and trouble shooting.Is a Role model in clinical support needs such
as but not limited to DIR fees. If applicable, float technician
role models exceptional skills in pharmacy workflow across multiple
Aurora Pharmacy locations.Participates in development and
implementation of training programs/materials. Trains and educates
pharmacy technicians, students, interns, residents, nurses or other
healthcare providers on medication-related processes. Provides
feedback to continuously improve the training experience.Serves as
a resource person, role model and source of expertise for
technicians, new team members, nurses, physicians and other health
care professionals regarding pharmacy services.Actively supports
and participates in departmental initiatives, including performance
improvement activities, department committees, and/or shared
governance activities. Embraces new opportunities, ideas and
changes and encourage others to do the same to meet changing
business requirements and standards of practice in the health care
environment.Complies with legal, regulatory, accreditation
standards. This includes (but is not limited to) controlled
substance procedures, USP procedures and DNV requirements.Must be
able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care
appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate
knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life
span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the
patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed
to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her
age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in
the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information
is developed further in the departmental job standards.Licenses &
Certifications Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) issued by
the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. Degrees High School
Graduate. Required Functional Experience Typically requires 3 years
of experience in Pharmacy Technician that includes experiences in a
retail pharmacy. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Good mathematical
skills Attention to details Exceptional customer service,
communication, organization, problem resolution and process
development skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently,
maintain confidentiality, and take initiative Intermediate computer
skills If applicable per assigned work location and workflow scope,
diabetic shoe fitting certification is required and will be
