Medical Technologist working in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Our Medical
Technologist will independently or with general supervision,
performs specialized tests and assists with the development of new
clinical applications in the clinical laboratory. Recognizes the
clinical significance of each test performed and reports results
within established time frames. -Responsibilities: --- Follow
clinical laboratory testing procedures and policies in the
performance of routine and specialized tests. --- Identify source
and nature of test problems and makes appropriate recommendation as
to course of action. --- Record, compile, create, and maintain
accurate records and communicate summaries of laboratory results as
needed. Field questions and concerns from physicians, nurses, and
external laboratory staff. --- Assure quality control criteria are
met including adherence to state and federal regulations.
Participate in the performance of proficiency testing. --- Assist
in the development, evaluation, and implementation of new
procedures and protocols. --- Monitor inventory and assist in
ordering of laboratory supplies. Maintain cells by various
culturing techniques. --- Operate, calibrate, perform, and
supervise routine maintenance on instrumentation. Perform
instrument maintenance at the prescribed time and logs
appropriately. Assist in minor trouble-shooting tasks. --- Instruct
and train new members of the laboratory staff, rotating residents,
students, and physicians as needed. --- Oversee daily lab
operations in the absence of lab manager. --- Perform other duties
as assigned. --- Certification: Require national certification
(Medical Technologist, ASCP or equivalent) within 12 months of
employment.Knowledge - Skills - AbilitiesAs related to clinical
laboratory practices, understanding of general and specific
laboratory procedures, familiarity with CLIA rules and regulations,
and scientific approach and methodologies. Ability to use
independent judgment. Ability to follow research methodology and
protocol. Strong critical thinking, solving testing problems of an
advanced or novel nature, and attentiveness to detail required.
Preferred Schedule: Full-time role with expectations for coverage
during core business hours and flexibility required as necessary to
accommodate business needs. Position Requirements: Minimum
Qualifications: Appropriate experience may be substituted for
education on an equivalent basis -
