We Are Hiring: RN Coordinator - Surgical Services Operations - Oconomowoc 1.0 FTE

Schedule: 4/10s with hours from 0615-1645 with a set day off during the week

At Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital we perform procedures including General/vascular, Orthopedics, Urology, GYN, Dental, & ENT. Our 8 operating rooms, renovated in May 2020, include new system integration for more efficient flow during surgery.

As an Orthopedic Center of Excellence we provide an array of orthopedic procedures including same day discharge procedures for total joints. We utilize the Depuy VELYS Robot to complete Robotic assisted total knee replacements.

What You Will Do:

You will be accountable for real-time management of established department workflows and processes related to surgical patient throughput. You will provide coordination and plan of patient throughput activities, with the knowledge and skills of a nursing generalist that routinely demonstrates skills in critical thinking and problem solving.Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Efficiently manages the operating room schedule to ensure timely provision of operative services for all procedural patients.
  • Coordinate patient care plans with the inpatient unit and/or Emergency department following OR scheduling guidelines to prioritize same-day surgical case requests and mobilize patient care resources including anesthesia resources to safely and efficient deliver surgical care. Mitigates issues related to patient throughput in surgical services.
  • Collaborate with Day Surgery, PACU, GI, Cath Lab, IR and Radiology departments to coordinate care and deploy patient resources required to provide surgical and anesthesia care outside of the operating room. Reviews and provides input to updating patient placement guidelines and processes as needed.
  • Collaborates with surgery leadership to develop and monitor daily staff productivity, quality and established service standards.
  • In partnership with surgery leadership, determine shift staffing assignments and strategies and make decisions based on the daily assessment of the surgery division operations.
  • Collaborates with Surgeons/Anesthesiologists to coordinate care of surgical cases as based on patient type/acuity.
  • Provides patient care clinical support as needed (i.e. Anesthesia Provider support, patient and specimen transportation, assist with surgical positioning and procedures, verify medication administration/wasting, surgical counts, etc---)
  • Reports on compliance with time and attendance policies and procedures to management team
    What You Will Need:

    • Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wisconsin
    • Previous OR experience required, charge nurse experience preferred
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA)
