  • Surgical: Colo-rectal, vascular, GYN oncology, surgical oncology (whipples), urology (cysto, TURPs), plastics (skin flaps)
  • Medical: wounds from surgeries, amputations, COVID, diabetic ulcers, diabetic (with insulin gtt) Patient Ratios:

  • Surgical postop experience, PCA/epidurals, wound dressing care, wound vacs, IV skills, drain/tube management, foley management, ostomy care, NTG placement/management, small bore placement/management, cardiac rhythm interpretation
  • Titration of medication: heparin, insulin, ketamine, Lasix, protonix, Cardizem Support on the Unit:
  • Charge nurse: full patient assignment

  • AAH adheres to a "fatigue policy" where all staff, including travelers, cannot work more than 60 hours in a week or 5 consecutive 12 hour shifts Other notes:
  • Scrub Color: Any - no camo/denim/no hoods
  • Must document pain level, before and after (1 hour for oral) giving pain medications - The pain score must also meet the pain score with nth medication order-i.e. if a patient has a score of 8, the RN cannot give the Tylenol that is ordered for mild 1-3. The RN must call for an order if the patient wants Tylenol for the score of 8.
