Job Title: CVOR/Surgical Assistant Profession: Nursing Specialty: RN Medical Center Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: - 2 years of Surgical Assist experience required. License: - Registered Nurse (RN) License required. Certifications: - BLS required. - Graduation from an accredited school required. - CSFA preferred. Must-Have: - Strong CVOR background is needed across all specialties. - Ability to work independently with minimal guidance. - Experience in fast-paced environments. Description: - The role involves assisting in cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries including CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, robotic thoracic cases, generator exchanges, lead extractions, heart transplants, and fem-pop bypass. - The surgical team always consists of two RNs per case, with travelers only circulating. - Patient ratios are maintained at 1:1. - Surgical assistants will assist with instrumentation and preference cards. - Anesthesia is available 24/7. - Charting system used is Epic; experience with this system is required. - Contributors are expected to cover weekend on-call duties and respond within 30 minutes if called in. - There is no provision for a sleep room when on call. - Holiday expectations include being on-call as needed. - Staff cannot work more than 60 hours in a week or five consecutive 12-hour shifts. - Scrub colors are provided, and pain level documentation is mandatory before and after administering pain medications. - Cafeteria facilities are available on site for staff.
