General Plastics is an award-winning company that provides thermoforming solutions that satisfy a broad spectrum of challenging quality, lead time, and cost-containment objectives. Due to growth, they are seeking a -1st Shift Supervisor -to join their team. This salaried position pays -$50 - 65k annually and offers monthly bonuses based on company performance.The -1st Shift Supervisor -works under the direction of the Plant Manager, ensuring the production of company products at the highest quality and lowest cost, meeting company performance standards, customer specifications, and delivery requirements in accordance with company policies, procedures, and EHS standards.Duties and Tasks include:Safety

  • Ensures a safe working environment by identifying and correcting unsafe behaviors, tasks, or practices.
  • Completes safety investigations, applies solutions, and audits for effectiveness.
  • Identifies and corrects machine/equipment issues.Quality
    • Monitors product quality and directs adjustments as necessary.
    • Ensure production and quality paperwork is filled out on the floor.
    • Makes sure set-up sheets are completed for new orders, process instructions, and rates are accurate on the Job.Lean Manufacturing / (OPEX)
      • Improve the Direct Manufacturing time and increase OEE by eliminating waste.
      • 5S: Ensure the facility is clean and organized (machines, work areas, tooling, trim scrap, assembly, WIP, etc.) Verify that 5S boards are being maintained daily.
      • Daily management boards are filled out daily, and checklists are completed.
      • Maintenance activities are completed on schedule.
      • Implements Root cause solutions to problems and drives continuous improvement.
      • Elimination of Waste by looking out for Over Production, Unnecessary Motion, Inventory, Waiting, Conveyance, Correction, Rework, Under-Utilized Talent, and Accidents and injuries.Communication
        • Effective communication with all levels of management and plant personnel.
        • Ensure all information and priorities are communicated to the following shifts.
        • Completes shift report.
        • Handles disciplinary actions of employees on shift.Business Systems
          • Maintain accurate inventory records.
          • Guarantee all records are accurately up to date.
          • Ensure employees follow program rules, i.e., inventory, recording information, logging in and out of Jobs, etc.)Production
            • Thermoforming Troubleshooting & Processing Skills.
            • Ability to process and set up difficult jobs.
            • Understands all heavy gauge thermoforming techniques.
            • Work with various thermoformed materials (ABS, HDPE, PVC/Acrylic, PC, HIPS, etc.)
            • 3 & 5 Axis CNC Set-Up & Troubleshooting Skills
            • Ensures employees are meeting or exceeding established production standards (rates)
            • Hold personnel accountable for their actions.
            • Maintain accurate records.People Management
              • Responsible for training and development of personnel by creating safe work instructions, safe machine instructions, storyboards, and developing visual standards.
              • Conducts employee performance reviews.
              • Participate in the resolution of employee grievances.Qualifications:

                • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
                • Write reports, procedural manuals, and correspondence.
                • Effective communication skills.
                • Capability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
                • Skilled at computing rates, ratios, and percentages.
                • Able to interpret specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Education / Experience
                  • High School Diploma or GED or associate degree with relevant work experience.
                  • 3-5 years of experience in Management or as a Team Lead and Trainer in a machining or manufacturing environment.
                  • Computer Experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
                  • Exposer to ERP business management systems.
                  • Quality Control (QC) experience.Physical Demands & Working Environment:
                    • The employee must frequently stand, walk, and talk or hear.
                    • The employee is occasionally required to sit, use hands, handle tools and controls.
                    • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, carrying and moving parts, materials, and products.
                    • Specific vision abilities required by this job included close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
                    • Must be able to work in a hot, dirty, dusty, noisy environment.
                    • Safety glasses are required; no hearing protection or steel-toe boots are required.Benefits:
