What's the role? This role will be responsible for owning the administration, support and expansion of the IBM z/OS mainframe storage environment central to Northwestern Mutual business critical systems. This role will focus on day-to-day management of disk and virtual tape systems, routine storage maintenance, data recovery, and disaster recovery procedures, as well as some general z/OS systems programming. Implementation of additional platform resiliency solutions will be a key part of this important function. This individual will be working very closely with other systems engineers, operations team members and application developers to ensure application performance and availability targets are exceeded. We are seeking an accomplished engineer with knowledge and a passion for infrastructure and integration. Bring Your Best! The preferred candidate will have solid experience in most of the following areas: * SMS / ACS expertise * DFSMS suite DSS, HSM, RMM * Hyperswap * Mainframe Storage Systems Disk and Virtual Tape * FDR, CA-Vantage, Catalog Recovery * Disaster Recovery solutions * DB2 / zFS / VSAM * Disk performance and capacity management * z/OS and z/OS Software Program Products - Installation, Maintenance and Support Additional experience in these areas are a plus: * SMPE * USS * Hardware Planning and Installation * Ficon/Fiber SAN experience * Agile project management methodology Competencies: * Fast learner and self-starter.
