Job Description:

ESC has an exciting contract opportunity for a Business Intelligence Developer working virtually to define, create, and maintain the data warehouse environment for our premier healthcare client. The BI Developer ensures data recovery, maintenance, data integrity and space requirements for data warehouse and BI tools are met. Maintains BI tools, information delivery, extract, transform and load (ETL) programs, performs backup and recovery, monitors standards and procedures and the integration of systems through data warehouse and BI tool design and maintenance. Performs the highest level of technical support of data warehouse and BI tool environment.
Major Responsibilities:

• Administers Business intelligence tools including security and controls.
• Monitors and optimizes BI tool performance.
• Defines the security model for the BI tools, including security group access and integration with identity and resource access.
• Defines, develops, maintains and documents BI tool architectures, technical standards, design and quality assurance standards, report publishing standards, support guidelines and work processes.
• Implements backup and recovery procedures to ensure data/media recoverability for data warehouse and BI tools.
• Participates in disaster recovery and business continuity exercises.
• Assesses and recommends new technologies or upgrades to improve functionality and efficiency, including coordination with other IT teams. Evaluates competing applications and products in the marketplace.
• Creates tasks, work estimates, and resource requirements related to BI tool, database, data warehouse and ETL processes. Monitors resources and initiates corrective action.
• Communicates with team members and customers in order to keep them informed with regard to activity status and potential problem areas and provide recommendations to management.
• Acts as technical escalation point with team members, customers, and vendors related to BI tool, database, data warehouse, and ETL issues and questions.
• Leads pathway to resolution.
• Performs vendor application and BI tool upgrades, installs patches, fixes, etc.to maintain system stability, functionality and performance.
• Administers Business intelligence tools and supporting infrastructure including application architecture, security and controls.
• Supports and troubleshoots production and test systems as required, optimizes performance, resolves production and test problems, and providing timely follow up on problem reports.
• Analyzes technical problems relating to applications, hardware, software and operating systems failures and takes corrective action to minimizes impact on team members.
• Assesses and recommends new technologies or upgrades to improve functionality and efficiency, including coordination with other IT teams.
• Evaluates competing applications and products in the marketplace.
• Plans, schedules, and coordinates BI tool and database installations.
• Adheres to all change management processes and makes suggestions on change management and project management process improvements.
• Participate in on-call rotation for off-hour support.
  
  Education Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, preferred.
    Experience Required:
    • 3 years of experience in BI tool administration and support, data warehouse or database administration.
      Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
      • Experience in the use cases, deployment methods, design, implementation and support of large Business Intelligence delivery platforms and applications.
      • Experience in logical and physical database design, hands-on data modeling techniques, and development methodology, physical schema design of table spaces, rollback segments, and data files.
      • Experienced in the design of information delivery mechanisms, data extracts, migration, and queuing facilities. Proficiency in the concepts and practice of database normalization techniques.
      • Strong working knowledge of database concepts/design/deployment, recovery techniques, performance monitoring and tuning. Ability to monitor and tune the database.
      • Demonstrated ability for analytical and logical thinking.
      • Ability to organize and troubleshoot efficiently and effectively. Ability to manipulate database environment.
      • Ability to work on multiple in-process tasks simultaneously, set appropriate priorities and accomplish assignments in a thorough and timely fashion.
      • Detail orientated, creative and self-motivated.
        Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
        • Exposed to a normal office environment.
        • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
        • This position requires travel so will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
