Job Overview
Key Job Responsibilities
- Analyzes engineering drawings, solid models, sketches and
design data of part to determine operation and program
requirements. Participate in the development of production methods
and procedures for the most cost-effective method to produce
Komatsu/P&H components without compromising quality.
- Creates and maintains Welding Robotics Programs and associated
NC programs. Establishes machine speeds and feed rates,
configuration of weld paths. Maintains solid models used for
generation of toolpath and NC code in manufacturing database and
program files in machine operator accessible database. Process
operator program returns by revising program and process
sheets.
- Creates outline/process sheets used to fabricate
components.
- Maintains catalogue of tooling/fixturing used at each facility
and establishes sourcing of tooling. Purchase necessary tooling as
needed and/or set up in tooling inventory control.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvements and carries
out improvement actions.
- Evaluate equipment and processes to ensure capability of
meeting part requirements. Leads or assists projects to upgrade,
replace and procure new equipment.
- Participate in pre-production product design reviews and
concurrent engineering efforts to ensure manufacturability of the
product design.
- Examine welding & machine tool equipment, tooling, processes
and operations to determine opportunities for cycle time
reductions, setup reduction, quality improvements and work with
cross functional team(s) to implement changes. Provide technical
support for rebuild, upgrade and enhancement of existing equipment,
replacement of worn-out equipment and procurement of new equipment
to support manufacture of Komatsu/P&H Products. Evaluate vendor
proposals and make recommendations.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree is highly preferred. Associate degree (A. A.)
or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and
Journeyman's status or 5 years of experience in the
welding/machining trades or equivalent.
- Welding/Fabrication Background & Robotics experience is a major
plus. (ABB, Yaskawa)
- Knowledge of / experience with Word Processing software;
Spreadsheet software; Development software; Design software;
Manufacturing software, specifically CAM and Database software.
