ABB Inc., is currently seeking a Drives Technical Support Engineer for its Wauwatosa, Wisconsin location, as part of our Drives Business Unit. You also get premium service, responsible solutions and expertise at your disposal, anywhere on the globe. 2019-06-09 Senior professionals ( > 5 years of work experience) Tasks: The Drives Technical Support Engineer/Specialist reports to the LV Drives Technical Support Manager. The Drives Technical Support Engineer/Specialist will provide technical support to ABB Customers/End users, Sales Channel, Product Management Teams, and ABB Drive Services. The areas of technical support includes but is not limited to; Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Soft Starters, Motors, 3 Phase Power, and Control System wiring and communication. Typical duties/responsibilities for sales may include, but are not limited to, the following:* Provide technical support for common problems related to the application of LV Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and LV Softstarters.* Analyze problems and initiate effective measures for their solution. Coordinate activities with related groups to most efficiently achieve objectives to ensure customer satisfaction.* Authorize independent service representatives known as the Drive Service Providers (DSPs) to perform troubleshooting and repair work on to Drives and Softstarters at customer sites throughout North America.* Execute product warranty while ensuring customer satisfaction and simultaneously achieving cost-control objectives.* Execute policy to help support out of warranty Drives and Softstarters.* Enter each reportable case as applicable in the Salesforce Case Management System.* Maintain communication with other departments to stay abreast of product release and up-dates.* Maintain technical competence in troubleshooting and repair of Drives and Softstarters.* Participate proactively in contributing feedback to the Quality department regarding product quality issues in an effort to reduce warranty costs.* Required to provide technical support during the evenings and weekends on a rotating schedule.* Ensure that proper policies and procedures are followed in accordance with company Management System directives and ESD requirements.* Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.* Maintain departmental housekeeping standards Requirements: BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:* High School Diploma and 7 years' experience in manufacturing or technical support or engineering OR* Associates' degree and 5 years' experience in manufacturing or technical support or engineering OR* Bachelors' degree and 3 years' experience in manufacturing or technical support or engineering* Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US Alternatively, this position may be hired at a senior level* High School Diploma and 9 years' experience in manufacturing or technical support or engineering OR* Associates' degree and 7 years' experience in manufacturing or technical support or engineering OR* Bachelors' degree and 5 years' experience in manufacturing or technical support or engineering* Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:* Experience in Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Soft Starters, Motors, 3 Phase Power, and Control System wiring and communication methods* Advanced understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals as applied to LV drives, motors, drive applications such as gear reduction, reflected inertia, application torque and acceleration torque demands.* Advanced understanding of Serial communication protocols.* Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings* Advanced understanding of Serial communication protocols.* Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings.* Experience responding to common inquiries from customers and an understanding functionally safety and how to apply.* Exceptional verbal communication and writing skills. #LI-US Additional information Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action at ABB ABB is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action Employer encouraging diversity in the workplace.
