more.Responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize a high volume of
construction contracts, drawing upon extensive knowledge of all AIA
contract forms, typical client positions, and their impact on
Shawmut and its business goals and practices.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize confidentiality
agreements, settlement agreements, leases, and other
agreements.
- Assist with legal issues related to subcontracts.
- Provide advice on various legal and procedural issues including
scope, schedule, notices, changes, non-performance, insurance, and
labor issues.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships and communication
with Shawmut staff.
- Act as a liaison for and foster positive relationships with
clients and clients' attorneys.
- Manage lien issues as necessary to protect the company's
interests, with familiarity with lien statutes and practices in
various jurisdictions.
- Develop training materials and provide company-wide training on
contracts, processes, and legal topics.Qualifications
- Experience: 2-5 years of Construction Industry Law
experience.
- Education: JD, member of any state bar.
- Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of construction principles,
practices, procedures, means, and methods.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in
English.
- Demonstrated initiative, follow-through, resourcefulness,
efficiency, and attention to detail.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint).
- Ability to learn new software and applications quickly.
- Ability to understand organization structure and stakeholders
rapidly.
- Ability to foster a culture of inclusion and belonging by
acting with courage, humility, and curiosity; a desire to learn
