Job Description:

Performance Foodservice is seeking a dedicated Class A CDL Yard Driver to join our dynamic team, helping maintain the efficiency of our distribution operations. As a vital part of our logistics department, you will be responsible for operating heavy trucks and trailers, managing the flow of goods in and out of our yard facilities, and ensuring timely servicing and positioning of vehicles. This role is pivotal in enabling us to keep our promise of delivering over 150,000 food and food-related products nationwide. Safely maneuver and operate a tractor-trailer within the yard for positioning and parking. Perform pre and post-trip inspections on all equipment, documenting and reporting any defects or safety concerns. Coordinate with dispatch and warehouse management to ensure smooth operations within the yard, including efficient space management. Assist in the loading and unloading process by aligning trailers with dock doors. Keep accurate records of all moves and communicate effectively with the logistics team about space allocation and trailer content. Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to road safety and cargo handling. Proficiency in operating Class A CDL vehicles Strong awareness of safety protocols and regulations Effective communication and coordination abilities Capability to handle physical requirements of the job including brief heavy lifting Attention to detail and adeptness in record-keeping Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Clean driving record Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) Familiarity with DOT regulations
