Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) seeks a dynamic and distinguished ambulatory operations and business executive to serve as its Executive Director for the newly created Comprehensive Pain & Spine Program. This is a unique leadership role at a highly respected and growing academic health sciences institution. This Executive role will manage this multidisciplinary program which includes overseeing the day-to-day business and operational functions that support the success of four clinical departments operating within one unique program. Reporting to the Medical College Physicians Practice Executives, the Executive Director is also responsible for the overall operations, financial success, human resources functions, and facility needs for the program’s clinical locations.

Primary Functions

The following represents essential functions and responsibilities for the Executive Director. They are not listed in any order of priority.

Oversees and directs clinical and business operations of the multidisciplinary Comprehensive Pain & Spine program.

Partners with the Medical Advisory Committee to drive operational objectives, develop growth strategies and tactics, and ensure financial success of the program.

Evaluates and advises on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new clinical operations/strategies and regulatory action.

Manages expense budget for program and continually benchmarks operational metrics to improve efficiency and results.

Serves as key liaison with MCP/CP/FH partners representing practice’s interests in ambulatory and health system initiatives, new system technology, and operational opportunities.

Maintains key relationships with clinical department chairs, clinical department administrators, and MCP administration to ensure that operational and business needs of the program are met.

Develops and uses effective monitoring systems to assure standards of performance are met, operating and budget objectives achieved, adherence to regulations, policies and procedures of MCW and regulatory agencies.

Prepares and presents financial reports and analyses to key stakeholders as requested.

Motivates and leads a high-performance clinical team; attracts, recruits and retains required members of the team.

Maintains awareness of best practice trends in patient care and incorporates these into the operational strategies.

Stays current on market knowledge to best meet the needs of the patients served.

Invests in continuing personal professional growth and development.
