Milwaukee Repertory Theater, a LORT theater located in the heart of Wisconsin’s largest metropolitan area, is currently seeking applicants for the position of Associate Director of Engagement. Position Summary:

The Associate Director of Engagement is responsible for leading the implementation of all engagement programming, in collaboration with the Chief Engagement & Education Officer. This position plays an integral role in overseeing and maintaining partnerships and relationships across the city that serve Milwaukee Rep in a myriad of ways. This position will also provide general administrative support for community engagement events and the community engagement division of the Engagement & Education Department. This position’s schedule is flexible to the ever-growing needs of our community and will be expected to work non-traditional hours as needed, per the guidance of the Chief Engagement & Education Officer. Other major responsibilities include:

• Create and execute activities, events, and programs tied to Milwaukee Rep’s stages, both inside the theater and out, that deepen the relationship of existing partnerships, promote access to the institution, and demonstrate the value of theater by positioning it at the center of vital civic conversations and meaningful actions, as reflected in core programming. These activities may include panels, symposia, pre- and post-show conversations, off-site events, etc.

• Co-create, strategically with the Chief Engagement & Education Officer, a season of events and moments of deeper collaboration with Mpact Partners and other existing partnerships that mutually serve both institutions.

• With the Chief Engagement & Education Officer, work with the Development Department to identify underwriting, sponsorship and promotional opportunities for these activities, including editing grants, creating project budgets, etc. • Lead all communications with ACT II responders and community stakeholders, manage the calendar, timeline and follow ups for ACT II, and work closely with the Zeidler Group on the curation of the night to night process. ACT II is a brief discussion facilitated in small groups with our patrons directly following one of the performances of one of our productions each season.

• Support and champion institutional Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion work.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience in community engagement/relations, community organizing, capacity building, education, and/or non-profit communications • Experience and knowledge in social justice, intersectional identities, valued-based programming, and EDI initiatives

• Experience and/or training in theater which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position

• Ability to make informed decisions on maintaining Milwaukee Rep’s positive image and public perception of Milwaukee Rep and its programs; disseminate information that maintains that positive image and public perception

• Ability to maintain deadlines, oversee event planning, coordination and completion

• Ability to build and manage positive relationships with committees and networks (both internal and external), community partnerships, professional organizations and other stakeholders

• Strong facilitation and positive collaboration skills to participate on projects and committees with Milwaukee Rep members and local community agencies

• Ability to speak in front of audiences including the ability to identify audience type and adjust communication style appropriately

Additional Requirements:

• Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite

• Ability to pass a background check in compliance with local, state and/or federal law

• In compliance with federal law, the person hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire

• Must be able to work non-traditional work hours, evenings and weekends as required

• Access to a personal car is preferred

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary is commensurate with experience. Milwaukee Repertory Theater employees receive benefits including 100% employer paid health and dental insurance for individuals, a paid time off package, a 403(b) retirement plan, and employer contributions to a health savings account.
