job summary: Position Summary The Mutual Fund Accountant works as part of a team responsible for maintaining the general ledger and records of mutual funds of varying complexity, including calculation of daily net asset value (price). The Mutual Fund Accountant works closely with the accounting manager and others on the team to meet daily deadlines required for reporting to fund reporting services, shareholder accounting departments and fund sponsors. Key Responsibilities Provide daily general ledger accounting, ensuring compliance with SEC regulations and generally accepted accounting principles. Determine daily fund values, including verification of pricing within required timeframe. Complete periodic and monthly reconciliations on a timely basis. Generate and reconcile a monthly proof of financial statements. Maintain the automated database for cash and security reconciliations, researching and documenting any discrepancies. Interact with and assist independent auditors during their annual examinations. Distribute fund data to internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree required in Accounting or Finance. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Basic knowledge of Eagle applications. Thorough understanding of the investment management industry and investment accounting. Intermediate level of knowledge of various complex investment instruments and mutual fund structures. 1-3 years industry experience. Additional responsibilities: Works as part of a team responsible to maintain the general ledger and records of mutual funds of varying complexity and producing end of day net asset value calculation. Prepares daily general ledger accounting, prime broker/bank cash reconciliations, advisor/portfolio management processing, corporate action application, expense accrual/payment postings, daily net asset value and mill rate determinations, portfolio pricing analysis/validations, timely internal/external information distributions, portfolio reconciliations, etc. Partners with various internal/external administrators, transfer agencies and prime brokers/custodian relationships collaborating on compliance, audit and financials, while ensuring all Fund Accounting functions are in compliance with SEC regulations and GAAP principles. location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin job type: Contract work hours: 8 to 5 education: Bachelor's degree experience: 3 Years responsibilities: Position Summary The Mutual Fund Accountant works as part of a team responsible for maintaining the general ledger and records of mutual funds of varying complexity, including calculation of daily net asset value (price).
