Racial Equity, Diversity and Inclusion VISTA

Midwest Urban Strategies (MUS) project focuses on advancing racial equity. The project creates and strengthens capacity for 13 Midwest urban workforce boards (WDB's) to provide training and employment opportunities for low-income, primarily Black individuals. This will be done through the development of a Racial Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (REDI) platform.Within the MUS proposed project, VISTA will assist with the design of a multi-layered approach that will include: supporting member organizations that are at the forefront of work to achieve racial equity. Support and provide best practices, tools and resources, in the form of a print/online toolkit designed specifically for Public Workforce Systems, to help build and sustain current efforts and build a full member movement for racial equity. Overall strategies for this component include: Engage communities of color in decision-making, understand the root causes of existing disparities and how Public Workforce Systems actions can make these better (or worse). Use data to identify current racial disparities. Identify needed resources to ensure equity in our actions and decision making. Identify clear goals, objectives and measurable outcomes and identify how progress on racial equity will be tracked and measured over time, and how to report back to stakeholders. Use of a racial equity framework that clearly articulates racial equity; implicit and explicit bias and individual, institutional and structural racism. Build individual member organizational capacity; Commit to institutional transformation so that impacts are sustainable. Member Duties : Develop Racial Equity & Inclusion Public Workforce System Tool Kit . Assist with design of a multi-layered approach that supports member orgs at the forefront of racial equity work. Help build and sustain efforts towards a full member movement for racial equity. Engage communities of color in decision-making, understand the root causes of disparities and how Workforce System actions can make these better (or worse). Use data to identify current racial disparities. Identify needed resources to ensure equity in our actions and decision making. Identify goals, objectives, measurable outcomes, and progress on racial equity will be tracked and measured, and how to report back to stakeholders. Use of a framework that clearly articulates racial equity; implicit and explicit bias and individual, institutional and structural racism. Build individual member organizational capacity. Build infrastructure that creates racial equity experts and teams throughout the MUS member workforce boards.
