Project Designer, Hospitality
Location: Kohler, WI
The Project Designer is responsible for supporting the design
and execution of projects within Kohler's Architecture and Interior
Design Department. Under the direction of the Lead Interior
Designer and Project Leaders, the Project Designer, will support a
wide range of hospitality and corporate projects. The Project
Designer should have design and implementation experience in one or
more of the following fields: luxury hospitality, spa, retail,
workspace, and emphasis on high-end custom environments. Projects
involve new building construction, facility renovation, and the
refurbishment of existing facilities. hospitality, and campus
projects. Projects will encompass research, conceptual design,
planning, utilization analysis, renovations and new construction.
The Project Designer will be a key contributor and team member,
supporting the project design, development, coordination, driving
deliverables, meeting deadlines and execution.
The Project Designer responsibilities include; design concept
and development, space planning, interior finish selections, and
corresponding specifications, cost estimates, procurement
assistance, rendering development, model creation, preparation of
presentation materials, design development drawings, project
tracking and closeout and completion of team member assignments.
Expertise for projects in the field of interior design is required
when in close collaboration with both internal and external
partners. The Project Designer will be responsible for supporting
in presentations for monthly Design Review meetings.
Provide support in preparing the following:
* Feasibility studies and fee estimates. * Assist with the
development of project design scope definitions, programming,
objectives, and requirements. * Assist with the development of
preliminary design concepts through drawings, FF&E selections,
and renderings. * Demonstrate a mastery of space planning and adept
knowledge of product and material specifications. * Assist with
FF&E cost estimates, specification documentations, quotations,
budget, procurement, managing lead times and coordinating
resources. * Obtain bids and other supporting documents for
compliance as exhibits in the preparation of ACTs. * Lead job-site
coordination meetings and design team meetings on assigned
projects. * Review and approve submittals and RFI's, ensuring
compliance with project scope. * Prepare "As-Built" specifications
and other essential close-out documents. * Assembling documents and
presentation collateral for Design Review. * Provide routine
support on vendor updates and library organization. * Address ADA
and interior finish compliance and ergonomic/human factors on
projects. * Collaborate and assist project teams, including
designers, architects, project managers, consultants, vendor, and
purchasing associates to meet project timeline, budget, and
expectations. * The Project Designer will need to demonstrate a
high level of abstract reasoning, problem solving and demonstrate
strong creative design sense.
* Directs and leads projects as assigned. Receives general
direction from superiors and exercises discretion when making
decisions. Demonstrates ability to prioritize workload and manage
to deadlines. * Professional level of communication with strong
ability to communicate design ideas visually, written, and verbally
to various Business Associates. * Team Oriented- Fosters, builds
and develops relationships across disciplines. Collaborate
effectively to achieve project success. * Develop ability to
anticipate, recognize and resolve potential conflicts. Intervene
and take action to resolve before project and team are adversely
affected. * Demonstrates ability to prioritize workload and manage
to deadlines. * Demonstrate self-awareness and ability to
continuously improve. Be accepting of feedback and input, while
providing feedback to associates and design team.
* Expertise and proficiency in AutoCad and MS Office Suite are
required. * Ability to create and manipulate models, renderings,
and lighting studies is required. * Specialization in one or more
of the following: Revit Architecture, Adobe Creative Suite
(Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Sketch Up, SpecLink and other
software are a plus. * Creative sketching and Hand rendering skills
are preferred. * Skilled code knowledge preferred.
* Candidates shall possess one of the following, a degree in
Interior Design, Environmental Design or degree from an NAAB
accredited School of Architecture. * Candidate shall provide a
portfolio that exhibits a high level of professional competency and
design skill based on work experience. * Five (5) or more years'
experience is necessary, with a minimum 2-3 years as a Project
Designer or equivalent position. * Candidates with design
experience in the luxury market are strongly encouraged. * LEED AP
or NCIDQ certification is desirable. Active membership in ASID,
IIDA or IFMA is preferred.
