Support the day-to-day strategic communications activities of the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment (AHW) through the development and implementation of integrated marketing communications strategies. Build a cohesive story of AHW's impact through the writing, editing, and design of a variety of internal and external materials. Manage AHW digital communications, overseeing web content and leading the execution of email and social media communications strategies. Support AHW funding and special event communications and outreach, facilitating active engagement across MCW and external partners.

Primary Functions

  • Work with Communications & Engagement Director to develop and execute short- and long-term communications plans, leading and supporting ongoing strategies and identifying new opportunities to advance organizational mission.
  • Lead planning and project management of integrated marketing and communications strategies building a cohesive story of AHW's impact across AHW content and marketing channels while maintaining timelines and monitoring effectiveness of strategies.
  • Manage AHW content and storytelling strategy, creating engaging journalistic content for internal and external channels and publications, including web, social media, blog, and publications. Manage AHW editorial calendar, serving as lead writer on AHW stories. Copy edit, research and proofread various content including stories/articles, blog posts, and reports.
  • Manage AHW email marketing system, developing marketing and outreach strategies to reach and engage target audiences, writing copy and creating necessary graphics, building emails, monitoring for effective distribution and engagement
  • Manage AHW social media presence, generating dynamic content for growing and engaging target audiences
  • Support conception and creation of assigned print and digital collateral materials, including reports, newsletters, flyers, and presentations. Independently design materials as necessary and work with freelance contractors as assigned, assuring delivery of cohesive, consistent products that reflect organizational brand
  • Work directly with AHW grants management team to identify opportunities to advance AHW communications goals in reaching health improvement partners
  • Work independently to identify and gather information; write and edit for accuracy and engagement; ensure that communications support the AHW mission, culture, and strategic initiatives.
  • Collect, analyze, and document communications data
  • Ensure assigned projects and deliverables are high-quality, completed on time, and reflect the institutional and organizational mission and brand.
  • Support additional communications activities and projects as assigned.
  • Participate on appropriate committees relevant to the advancement of AHW communications and organizational mission.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and institutional policies.
  • Collaborate across AHW functional units and the organization to uphold stewardship objectives and principles

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities

Strong organizational, time management, and project coordination skills. Creative copywriting skills for print and web. Knowledge of AP Style. Experience with Microsoft Office applications. Experience with design programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Canva), website content management (Titan CMS) and Salesforce applications a plus. Knowledge of media production, communication, and delivery techniques and methods in various media. Knowledge of marketing and advertising for promoting products, services, or information. Advanced proficiency in the structure and content of English language (spelling, composition, and grammar). Knowledge of customer service to meet customer needs and meet quality standards. Knowledge of principles of records management and basic administration. Active listening skills required in order to effectively understand and interpret messages received. Writing and communication skills required to effectively deliver messages in various media. Oral comprehension and expression abilities and speech recognition abilities required.
