Additional Job Details: .9 FTE / Rotating

All new hires are started on NOC's shift and as vacancies and desires arise, opportunities to change shifts can become available based on seniority and evaluations. 

Associate will start NOC shift 1900-0730.

Hired for every other weekend and Holiday however, as a perk, every third weekend and every third holiday is currently the required schedule.


The 6th Floor is a 36 bed Stepdown Intermediate Care Progressive Surgical Department. We are a Regional Center of Excellence for Bariatrics, Joint commission Total Hip and Knee Joint Replacement Certified and AHA Stroke Certified.


Our unit is dedicated to our surgical patients and families. We believe in a strong shared leadership structure led by our Supervisors and RN Leads. We appreciate staff involvement by participating in projects, committees and unit decision making. Additionally, we have a strong work family environment that values relationships.


We welcome different levels of experience to join our diverse team of staff. It is a good start for novice nurses as well as interesting enough/variety for the experienced RN.  This group is known to have great teamwork and knowledge sharing. This unit is led by two-unit Patient Care Supervisors that staff the unit and work in the office to manage the day to day operations. This unit offers the opportunity to apply clinical knowledge and skills surrounding the care for a wide variety of surgical patients . Nurses are trained to provide highly skilled, compassionate, competent care to these acutely ill patients.  This allows for professional growth and development. With a team approach and support of nurse mentors, leadership and the interdisciplinary team, nurses are able to maintain high standards of care with focus on individualized care. We value positive outcomes, patient and associate satisfaction as well as work life balance.

What You Will Do:

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. 
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
What You Will Need:


  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing OR current home state license if considered multi-state/Compact State.


  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.
  • BSN preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Experience preferred but not required.
