TradesDescriptionMilwaukee Public Museum is looking for a Public
Safety/Security Officer I to work five (8) hour shifts per week. In
this role you must be available to specifically work 3rd
shift/grave yard shift from Midnight to 8am, but have the
flexibility to potentially cover 1st or 2nd shift if need be.
Schedules are available 4 weeks in advance and it is an important
role as you will be considered the eyes and ears of the facility
when we are closed to the public on third shift.The Public
Safety/Security Officer I is a highly customer service oriented
position and is responsible for securing the premises, ensuring
safety of staff and guests by patrolling, by foot, the over 400,000
square foot building and through the monitoring of surveillance
equipment. There is occasionally work outside, directing patron
traffic, and way-finding for guests arriving to the Museum. The
Public Safety/Security Office I also prevent loss and damage by
reporting irregularities; imparting Information to staff and
ensuring the comfort and safely of guest. Successful candidates
will have stellar written and verbal communication skills as they
are required to provide exceptional customer service and
professionalism when obtaining information regarding incident
reports and emergencies.In this highly team oriented environment,
successful candidate must be able to work together with current
Public Safety Officers, the Milwaukee Police, and other staff
members. Individuals need to be physically fit and take pride in
their appearance and properly follow uniform standards. The Museum
requires the Security Department to be manned on a 24 hour, 365
days per year basis. Therefore candidates for this position must be
able to work independently, and flexible to meet the scheduling
needs.Candidates with previous DAAT certification is a plus, all
officers must be DAAT certified after 6 months of service.
Candidates for this position must be willing to administer CPR and
first aid after proper training has been
provided.RESPONSIBILITIESMaintains access control, which includes
sign in/out logs, key and badge distribution, and access cards, and
controls access or secured areas to authorized personnelPatrol
museum building and inspect for safety hazards, examine perimeter
doors, stairwells and secured area doors for proper operation and
security.Checks for proper badge identification for all staff
visitors, contractors, and vendors and checks for proper colored
wristbands on Museum visitors.Escort people from the building,
helps with locker inspections, and completes "Special
Assignments---as assignedRespond to all non-emergency and emergency
situations, collecting relevant information, complete incident
reports, administer CPR & first aid as necessary.QUALIFICATIONSHigh
school diploma or equivalent required; ideal candidate will have
some college credits preferably in criminal justiceTwo years of
relevant experience as former security or equivalent related
serviceCPR, First Aid and AED training requiredMust be dependable
and highly trustworthy & security consciousMust be flexible and
able to work a varied/flexible schedule, which include working
days, evenings, weekends, and holiday o also include necessary
overtime when requiredMust be able to write clear and accurate
reports and able to make independent evaluations and decisionsAble
to make independent evaluations and decisionsMust have good problem
solving skills and be able to apply common sense and good judgment
in completing assigned tasksExperience in Access Control Systems
