Job PurposeUnder the direction of the School Operations Manager and Regional Maintenance Coordinator, the Custodian will assist and support our schools in maintaining a high level of cleanliness and orderliness in classrooms and around campus.Essential ResponsibilitiesConduct all business in accordance with Open Sky policies and procedures, state and federal laws; e.g., OSHA, ADA, Fair Housing, etc. Preventative maintenance/safety always and maintains awareness of proper safety precautions Constantly observes the condition of school property throughout the community and immediately reports and/or initiates action to correct unsafe conditionsEngage with students in being a steward of their environment Physically walks the property on a frequent basis and removes litter, debris from the groundsRemoves all trash transfers to the dumpsterTransfers trash and other items left outside of dumpster into the dumpster. Pick-up and sweep area. Keeps dumpster doors closed on windy days.Keep an inventory of supplies needed and alert leader when supply runs lowLawncare and grounds upkeep during the spring, summer and fall seasonsSnow removal to include plowing and preventative salting when necessaryFollows scope of work defined by school leaders including but not limited to:Washes windows, handrails, window sills, etc. Dust and mops floorsCleans bathrooms and removes trash mid-dayPerforms work area clean-up and safety related dutiesPerform minor repairs and touch-up paintServe as a second server daily for any needs in the cafeteria or as directed Work collaboratively with the regional facilities and notify them in timely manner of any maintenance needsLive and act as a biblical role model and Open Sky Education representative in your life for our scholars, team members and community.Agree to comply at all times with our Code of Conduct and Statement of Faith.Agree to engage in the faith life of our scholars and in collaboration with other team membersPerforms any additional dutiesQualificationsHigh School Diploma or Equivalent PreferredA minimum of one year of custodial experience Commitment to HOPE's missionMeet all physical demands of the positionAble to take direction.Work quickly and efficientlyExperience working with elementary age youth or in a school setting strongly preferredAbility to think outside the box and do whatever it takes to get the job doneWillingness to accept, implements, and grow from constructive feedbackA strong commitment and high expectations for cleanliness and organizationPhysical RequirementsBend/Stoop/Squat/Kneel Perform routine cleaning pick up debrisClimb Stairs Routine duties require access to all levels Push or Pull Move equipment, appliances, open and close doors, etc.Comfortable operating cleaning machineryReach above Shoulder Perform routine maintenance/repairs, stock and remove equipment, to place trash in dumpsterClimb Ladders Perform routine cleaningGrasp/Grip/Turning Handle tools and equipment, perform routine cleaningFinger Dexterity Handle tools and equipment, perform routine cleaningLifting/carrying (supplies, trash receptacles, ladders, etc.): Occasional need (1% to 33% of the time) 25 - 75 lbs. Frequent need (33% to 66% of the time) 1 - 25 lbs.
