Description:The Peer Support Specialist serves as a role model, mentor, advocate and motivator to individuals with a history of mental health concerns and/or substance use to help promote long-term recovery and prevent relapse. The Peer Support Specialist demonstrates an ability to share personal recovery experiences and to develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships. Our program services adult and youth referred through the Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) in Milwaukee County. Hours will vary, typicdally Monday-Friday between 9:00am to 5:00pm with occasional evenings to accommodate clients' needs.SALARY: $15.00-21.00 per hourESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Participate as an integral part of the person's identified recovery team.
    • Provide recipients with information and insight about recovery.
    • Exercise judgment to intervene as an advocate in school, the community and during emergency and crisis situations.
    • Provide support groups to interested service recipients.
    • Provide support in connecting service recipients with community organizations and support groups.
    • Attend youth/family team meetings.
    • Complete billing and other documentation in accordance with Comprehensive Community Services standards.Requirements:
      • Must have reliable transportation on a daily basis, a valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
      • At a minimum, must possess a High School Diploma; Bachelors Degree is preferred.
      • Must be certified through the State of Wisconsin as a Peer Support Specialist.
