Duties:
*Greets, receives and gives assistance to patients, visitors,
health professionals and other hospital personnel at the reception
desk and directs them according to their needs: Assists with
managing flow of patients in the clinic; Greets patients in a
friendly manner; Performs check-in procedure, Obtains/verifies
registration and insurance information as needed; Notifies
appropriate clinic area or staff of patients' arrival.
*Schedules outpatient appointments for the clinic; facilitates
scheduling in other clinics and departments: Schedules appointments
for physician clinics, midlevel providers and nurse visits and
treatment appointments based on priority and time availability and
physician clinic schedules.
*Utilizes the electronic medical record and scheduling system
accurately to insure that there is comprehensive, retrievable
information on all patients as assigned: Assists in coordination of
insurance authorization for patient visits.
*Arrives patients in system and provides point of service
registration functions: Selects appropriate patient account;
Collects co-pays per Hospital procedure; Reviews face sheet with
patient and collects required information; Updates patient
information accurately.
*Communicates effectively with all departments when scheduling
appointments; communicates effectively with patients to insure
understanding of appointments and test requirements. Interacts with
all staff in a professional manner.
*Answers high volume of telephone calls. Documents messages
appropriately and timely; routes to appropriate team member.
*Operates all office equipment efficiently (computer systems,
facsimile machine, copier, etc.).
Skills:
*Under general supervision of the clinic manager, functions as the
primary contact as patients arrive to the clinic.
*Requires a high degree of patient interaction, utilization of
patient information, maintenance of the department schedule and
management of a high volume of telephone calls.
*All processes performed support the policies and procedures of the
Hospital and Center. Other duties as assigned.
*Experience in use of computers, medical terminology, typing and
office equipment, in order to fulfill established quality standards
of the job is required.
*Good communication skills focus on customer service
*One year of prior experience as a receptionist/assistant in a
medical setting is preferred.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent is required
Minimum Degree Required:
Completed High School (Diploma or GED)
