Working with Data Architect, provide design and implementation of
data model solutions using relational and dimensional databases to
translate business needs into long-term solution data models that
are easily used by end users for reporting and analytics. Evaluate
existing systems and work with a development team to create
conceptual data models and data flows that address their needs.
These solutions streamline and support enterprise information
management. Troubleshoot and optimize data systems and evaluate
implemented systems for variance discrepancies and efficiency.
Responsible for the development of the conceptual, logical, and
physical data models, the implementation of Relational Database
Management System (RDBMS), Operational Data Store (ODS), data
warehouse, data marts, and data lakes on target platforms
(SQL/NoSQL).
Oversee and govern the expansion of existing data architecture and
the optimization of data query performance via best practices. The
candidate must be able to work independently and
collaboratively.
***This is a hybrid position that requires two days per week in the
office and can be based in either our Downtown Milwaukee or Merrill
Wisconsin locations. ***
--- Creating a visual representation of either a whole information
system or parts of it to communicate connections between data
points and structures.
--- Create and maintain conceptual/logical and physical data models
along with accurate metadata to identify key business entities and
visual relationships.
--- Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
--- Work with business and IT teams to understand data
requirements.
--- Implement business and IT data requirements through new data
strategies and designs across all data platforms (relational,
dimensional, and NoSQL) and data tools (reporting, visualization,
analytics, and machine learning).
--- Work with business and application/solution teams to implement
data strategies, build data flows, and develop
conceptual/logical/physical data models.
--- Maintain a data dictionary consisting of table and column
definitions.
--- Review data model with technical and business audience as
necessary.
--- Perform data profiling/analysis activities.
--- Identify the architecture, infrastructure, and interfaces to
data sources, tools supporting automated data loads, security
concerns, analytic models, and data visualization.
--- Hands-on modeling, design, configuration, installation,
performance tuning, and sandbox POC.
--- Work proactively and independently to address project
requirements and articulate issues/challenges to reduce project
delivery risks.
--- Work with Database Administrators (DBAs) to develop and ensure
adherence to data modeling standards, as well as deployment of any
data model changes.
--- Collaborate with application developers and Extract, Transform,
and Load (ETL) developers and project teams to design and build
data model to support project needs.
--- Develop, implement, and support the usage of data visualization
toolkit, configuration, deployment, and usage.
--- Solution architecture, design, and development of models for
small projects.
--- Create conceptual data model to identify key business entities
and visualize their relationships.
--- Provide documentation of solution design, as well as end user
training and change management communications at times.
--- Present and communicate modeling results and recommendations to
internal stakeholders.
--- Communicate physical database designs, DBA, and explains
features that may affect the physical data model.
--- Implementing data strategies and developing physical data
models.
--- Troubleshooting and optimizing data systems
--- 3+ years' experience in a data modeler role, with working
knowledge of information systems and integration/design
solutions.
--- Related insurance experience preferred.
--- Bachelor's degree in related field (e.g., business, finance, or
technical) or equivalent experience required.
--- Expertise in data modeling principles/methods, including
conceptual, logical and physical data models.
--- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas,
regardless of the technical capacity of the audience.
--- Strong inter-personal skills.
--- Strong ability to work independently, as well as part of a
team.
--- Experience working with dimensionally modeled data.
--- Experience with data modeling tools.
--- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
--- Knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
methodologies.
--- Knowledge of Property & Liability insurance industry.
--- Knowledge of insurance IT systems.
