Job Title Packaging Research Associate - Entry Level Job Type Full-time Education Bachelor's Degree Location OCONOMOWOC, WI 53066 US (Primary) Career Level Entry Level Category Research & Development Date Needed By Shift Type Travel 0 - 10% Job Description The primary responsibility of a Packaging Research Associate is to monitor and assess the performance of metal food containers and secondary packaging. The performance is evaluated in a laboratory setting through procedures that rigorously assess the combined effects of material properties, product design, manufacturing process, food processing, secondary packaging and distribution on the overall performance of food containers. This role is an integral member of the lab team and is responsible for providing data from lab evaluations that is used in support of package development, manufacturing plant quality, customer quality issues and field failure analysis and resolution. Designs and conducts studies on factors that influence container performance, including material properties, product design, product manufacturing and secondary packaging. Implementation to include use of industry standard tests and existing and innovative proprietary methods. Provides technical assistance to all divisions of Silgan to improve the overall performance of containers, from the perspective of container manufacturing, customer requirements and consumer preferences.
