Position SummaryProject Appointment-STUDENTPurposeA Project Appointment-STUDENT (PA-STUDENT) classification is utilized for a foreign national who is at MCW as a student for the purposes of furthering his or her education. In order to qualify for this position, student status must be proven. Attributes of a Project Appointment:

• PA-STUDENTS are temporarily brought into an MCW laboratory because they desire to supplement their education, which they are primarily receiving at an institution other than MCW.
• There is an established date of termination, and there is no expectation of continued or permanent employment.
• The total duration of the Project Appointment cannot exceed four years. Primary Functions
  • Design and perform laboratory procedures and experiments with minimal supervision.
  • Manage and operate laboratory equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Participate in meetings with principal investigator and research staff.
  • Evaluate and interpret the validity of data, develop methodologies, evaluate laboratory procedures.
  • Retrieve information from library and computerized databases; assist in preparation of manuscripts and presentations.
