The estimated hourly base pay rate for this position is $47,800-59,800 per year. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual short-term incentive bonus, subject to eligibility criteria.Join Our Team as an Assembly Test Technologist!Are you passionate about Assembly? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate our assembly function. As an assembler test tech, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. The Assembly Test Technologist is responsible for performing intermediate-level functional testing on electrical grid products, ensuring that all products meet the required specifications before they are delivered to customers. The Assembly Test Technologist works more independently than the Assistant Test Technician and provides guidance and support to less experienced team members.Key Responsibilities:Execute standard functional tests on electrical products and systems following established procedures.Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics to perform accurate tests and some troubleshooting.Provide guidance and training to Assistant Test Technicians and other junior team members.Maintain and calibrate testing equipment, ensuring it is in proper working condition.Assist in developing and improving testing procedures and protocols based on findings and feedback.Identify and diagnose issues during testing and take corrective actions or escalate them as needed.Utilize basic hand tools and measuring devices such as tape measures and multimeters under supervision.Maintain accurate records of tasks performed, deviations, and any quality concerns. Adhere strictly to safety protocols while handling tools, equipment, and materials. Report any safety hazards promptly.Perform assembly tasks as assigned by supervisors to support production needs. This includes all requested assembly tasks, even those that are not typically performed by this role on a day-to-day basis.Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards, including the use of lifting devices and other ergonomic or safety devices when required. Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.Work with departmental mentors to gain and apply feedback in pursuit of improved work quality. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Attend in-person or virtual meetings as requested or required. Communicate effectively and respectfully with others. Other responsibilities as assigned. What you'll Need To Succeed:1-3+ years of experience in an electrical or mechanical-related role.Sound understanding of electrical and mechanical systems. Able to complete troubleshooting tasks to identify issues within these systems.Ability to understand blueprints and electrical schematics.Ability to train and mentor less-experienced team members.Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment on a product floor and open to learning new concepts of electrical/product testing.Proficient in performing precise and delicate tasks using hands and fingers. Able to manipulate small objects, operate tools, and handle intricate equipment effectively.Sound attention to detail, with the ability to follow detailed instructions and identify correct vs. incorrect product functions. Rounded communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate information efficiently and effectively to team members in a variety of production support departments. Good computer skills with the ability to review and respond to requests and use Microsoft applications. Basic shop math skills with the ability to calculate measurements.Good interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to understand and complete requests given by team members inside and outside of the department. Ability and willingness to follow Health, Safety & Environment procedures accurately, reporting concerns promptly to the safety action team. Willing to support production teams with non-typical tasks, including assembly work.Experience working in a manufacturing environment or electrical testing role. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles.Physical demands:
Standing: Continuously required to stand and perform tasks Lifting & Carrying: Frequently required to solo or team lift and/or carry items exercising sound judgment to employ manual handling or machine lifts where required, and risk assessments, if appropriate. Walking: Frequently required to walk moderate distances across the S&C campus. Pushing: Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.Low Posture: Infrequently required to perform tasks using a low posture, including but not limited to stooping, bending, crawling, crouching, kneeling, or squatting Position Self/ Move: Frequently required to position self to perform tasks involving but not limited to reaching, twisting, rotating, and pushing/pulling. Manual dexterity: Frequently required to use hand-eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate equipment/machinery/power tools/office productivity equipment. Ascending/ descending: Frequently ascending or descending stairs and ladders. Observation/ Eyesight: Frequently required to observe details at close range including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors.
