What You Will Do. Working in the beautiful Milwauke area you will

athletic teams...Go Pack Go!. As the--Diagnostic Medical Physicist
/ Radiation Safety Office for Ascension Columbia St. Mary's , you
will have the responsibility to ensure--Imaging Standards from the
State of Wisconsin and The Joint Commission --"quality of care"
standards are appropriately applied to the use of
radiation-producing sources (x-ray and nuclear) and imaging
equipment, while protecting patients and staff from radiation. Part
of each work week is approved to work-from-home. You will:. Perform
performance evaluations of all x-ray and nuclear imaging equipment.
Recommend and assist in justification of new imaging equipment and
radiation safety products for use within the hospital. Develop
quality control procedures for all medical imaging systems. Oversee
the hospital's radioactive materials license and radioactive
material handling procedures. Educate staff in radiation safety
practices. Ensure American College of Radiology accredited imaging
systems remain fully compliant with the elements of the
accreditation program. Daily monitoring of established quality
control programs and evaluate dose data as required. Radiation
Safety responsibilities cover all hospital based and out-patient
imaging and therapeutic areas. Oversight of radiation safety
activities in Radiation Oncology is the responsibility of the RSO;
however, two Radiation Oncology Medical Physicists are available to
assist as needed. What You Will Need.
Licenses/Certifications/Registration:. Required Credential(s):
Medical Physicist--certified by the--American Board of
Radiology--in Diagnostic Radiological Physics.-- Certification must
be completed within--36 Months (3 years)--of hire date or job
transfer date. Must meet Wisconsin RSO requirements. Preferred:
Board certification in Health Physics (comprehensive) by the
American Board of Health Physics. Board certification by the
American Board of Medical Physics in Radiation Safet. For
Mammography only: meet MQSA requirements. Education:. Diploma
Master's degree in Physical Sciences or Biological Sciences. Work
Experience:. Must be listed as an RSO on either an Agreement State
or Nuclear Regulatory Commission Radioisotope License OR. Have 1
year's work experience under a person qualified to be an RSO.
Graduates of an CAMPEP accredited Diagnostic Imaging residency will
be considered; provided they meet the State of Wisconsin's
requirements to serve as a Radiation Safety Officer. Equal
