The Senior Electrical Project Engineer provides electrical design expertise for projects by contributing to the design and development of products, solutions, and systems. Develop advanced controls technologies and algorithmsCreate system level requirements for controller developmentDevelop and document intellectual property (IP) including patent protectionDevelop technical subject matter expertise in system level generator communications, paralleling, voltage regulation or similar functionsDevelop, analyze, and document electrical system architecturesWork in a cross-functional team environment to develop and document system requirements and specificationsDevelop, analyze, and document generator controller electrical schematics to support controller integrationWork in a cross-functional team environment to develop and document electronic controls system level performance specificationsUse modeling and simulation techniques applicable to the industryCreate innovative system level designs for use in current and future projectsWork in a cross-functional team environment to document system risk analysisUse technical expertise in generator systems to provide feedback during team design reviewsWork closely with patent lawyers to develop patentable ideas and workaround solutions for existing patentsInvestigate, resolve, and document generator system technical issuesDiscuss with external technical experts and upper management levels the advantages and disadvantages of new technical concepts applicable to Kohler Power SystemsDevelop and share technical expertise with professional societies and associations Skills/RequirementsB.S. in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program4+ years of related work experienceBasic knowledge of one or more of the following C, C++, Assembly LanguageKnowledge of any of the following a plus: MATLAB, PSPICE, Simulink, Orcad, Verilog, VHDL, Microsoft Project, 8d and A3 Problem Solving ApproachesExcellent abstract reasoning abilityExcellent communication skills including global awarenessExcellent problem-solving skills, with capability of documenting problem-solving process and data used to make decisionsA working knowledge of processor, memory, and communication technologiesA broad base of power system industry knowledge including common methods of wiring, grounding, and industry accepted control topologies and communication techniques a plusA good general understanding of switchgear applications and control topologiesA working knowledge of applicable regulatory standards as well as an understanding of standards roadmaps Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.Why Work at Kohler Co.?Kohler Co.'s mission is to contribute to a higher level of gracious living for those who are touched by our products and services.
