Job DescriptionSeeking a career-minded, highly-motivated, technical professional to serve as a Electronic Calibration Technician to perform onsite and in-house calibration on a variety of test equipment.The Electronic Calibration Technician I will apply knowledge of measurement science, mathematics, and electronics to calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment in the Electrical-DC/Low Frequency, and Time & Frequency disciplines to ensure measurement accuracy.This is not an entry-level position.Skills and RequirementsMinimum of 1-2 years prior experience in calibration of equipment listed below is requiredExperienced and aware of ISO 9000 and/or ISO 17025 quality assurance program desiredMust have a valid driver's licenseStrong computer and math skillsProficient with Windows, Microsoft Office, and Internet applications with an emphasis on ExcelProficient in customer service skillsProficient math skillsExcellent attention to detailExcellent organizational skillsCapable of lifting (50 pounds) unassistedCandidate MUST be willing to travel to local and regional on-site locationsMUST Pass entrance exam (see Application Process below)EducationA minimum of 1-2 years of experience in electronics calibrations Bachelor or Associate degree in electronics preferredMilitary service in electronics field highly regardedResponsibilitiesPerform routine and complex calibrations of low to mid-level on test, measurement and diagnostic equipment in our laboratory (20%) and at our client's facility (80%).Determining specifications/tolerances of equipmentUnderstanding and daily application of quality systems and quality standardsGood knowledge of the laboratory's Scope of AccreditationUnderstand the usage of available Calibration SpreadsheetsComplete all assigned quality assurance training as assigned to include required readings as assignedPromptly addresses customer requests, inquiries and complaints taking actions as appropriate to satisfy the customer or resolve the issuePerform equipment maintenance as necessary and participate in internal audits, annual laboratory assessments and proficiency testingPerform calibration in accordance with calibration procedures to meet the needs of the customerWilling to learn to write and submit for approval calibration proceduresComplete all computer based work orders accurately and efficiently while maintaining a 2% or less QC Error rate on completed work orders and technical witnessingContinually pursue technical proficiency, calibration skills through various means such as self-study and internal training programs and proficiency testingEnsure customer satisfaction through timely turn-around on all equipment by actively reviewing, projecting and planning of workloadMaintain an exemplary laboratory cleanliness through daily routine cleaning of lab spaces and work stationsTypes of EquipmentAnalog MetersAttenuatorsChart RecordersDecade ResistorsDigital and Analog MultimetersFrequency CountersFunction GeneratorsHypot (Hi-Voltage) TestersLCR MetersMeggersOscillatorsOscilloscopesFurnaces/FreezersPower MetersPower SuppliesPyrometersTachometersTemperature DevicesVolt-Ohm MetersThis list is not all inclusive and what you may not currently be qualified to calibrate, you will be provided training.Opportunities exist for candidates who are interested in moving into other types of calibrations we perform such as dimensional, chemical and thermodynamics.Physical DemandsAbility to communicate orally with customers, vendors, management, and coworkers is crucial. Regular use of phone and email for communication is essential. Hearing and vision correctable to within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, receiving ordinary information, and preparing or inspecting documents and calibration activities.The ability to remain in a stationary position roughly 50% of the time, as well as the ability to move about the laboratory and customer spaces as required.Using a computer or calibrating while sitting or standing for extended periods is common. Must also be able to position self to calibrate equipment, including some harsh environments at customer facilities which may include heat, cold, noise-levels, etc. Some onsite facilities may require personal safety equipment such as earplugs, steel-toe boots, splash aprons, safety eyewear, and respirators.Continuous heavy lifting is not expected, however onsite service requires loading and unloading of calibration equipment though occasional exertion of about up to 70 lbs. of force (e.g., picking up and carrying calibration standards) may be required.Onsite activities do sometimes require extensive drive times.Reports ToThe Calibration Technician I reports directly to the WI Laboratory Supervisor.Application ProcessAs a potential candidate, we have composed an aptitude exam in which you are required to pass for employment consideration. A full catalog is available to all staff members to encourage self-motivated course selection by staff members instead of strictly relying on course assignment.
