The Electrical Engineering Manager will lead a team of embedded
system and power electronics engineers focused on delivering new
power tool technologies and products to the market. You will be
responsible for strategic roadmap planning, resource allocation and
scope management, oversight of technical reviews / design
decisions, and process improvement / change management. This
includes working in a team environment with marketing, project
management, firmware engineering, mechanical engineering, and
global manufacturing operations. This position will sit at our
Headquarters in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and
responsibilities:
- Build, manage, and motivate a world class team of embedded
design engineers to deliver new-to-world solutions.
- Organize and align across product team and commercial managers
to develop a robust product strategy and development roadmap.
- Drive communication with marketing, product teams, and platform
engineering to capture the voice of the customer and tailor
solutions to user needs.
- Grow the team to increase project capacity while maintaining
exemplary performance.
- Effectively communicate and motivate up, down and across the
organization to a diverse range of technical and non-technical team
members.
- Drive urgency in project schedules and accountability for
establishing and achieving key project metrics that meet the
organization's needs.
- Ensure the team is given the time and resources required to
succeed by creating and managing robust project roadmaps and
resource plans with converged project scope.
- Champion and drive new processes and procedures to meet the
needs of a changing business.
- Establish and maintain a strong awareness and database of
competitive offerings, product strategies, and business climate to
shape a best-in-class roadmap.
- Mentor and coach the team in engineering best practices
including task management, Gantt charts, root cause analysis,
firmware design, circuit / PCB design, simulation, and PCBA
manufacturing. Lead technology investigations, develop system
requirements, define future architectures and reusability
strategies.
- Quickly, effectively, and candidly frame-up and escalate
business risks/opportunities to senior leadership.
- Lead the development of test plans/procedures and test cases
for new product embedded systems and subsystems development.
- Identify new innovations and strategic opportunities while
considering financial impact and competitiveness.
- Develop plans to evaluate and assess the emerging technology
market space to fit/compliment Milwaukee Tool product initiatives
and development.
- Define overall product design strategies, common architectures,
and shared design building blocks across multiple
products/projects. What TOOLS you'll bring with you:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related
field.
- 7+ years of highly successful embedded systems experience.
- 3+ years of team leadership experience.
- Understanding of digital circuits and the interaction between
firmware and electronics. Ability to realize component level
design.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, exercises independent
judgement and works well under pressure in a dynamic
environment.
- Strong leadership experience.
- Self-motivated, organized, efficient, process oriented with a
strong work ethic.
- Practical knowledge in analog/digital system tradeoffs and
design, especially related to signal integrity, noise analysis, and
margin considerations.
- Familiarity with using schematic capture, PCB layout software,
SPICE, and knowledge of industry best practices.
- Expertise in C programming and related development tools and
processes, especially relating to microcontroller peripherals.
- Ability to travel 10% of the time (domestic and international).
